Jacob and Jordan Update 1-2013 - 4-2013

Greetings and salutations from the Cordova Family!

2013 began with a lot of twists and turns for the little ones (they are 3 now, so we can't call them babies or toddlers, but they will always be our precious babies!) and although the first episode of each new experience may be a little trying, true to form the kids have met each new activity with resilience and spunk. Their birthday celebration was a simple gathering of close family members around the dinner table as a result of Mom and Dad's full schedule which carried over from last year and went over fine with all. The kids also began Early Development at Morton Ranch Elementary School 4 days a week from 8:30-12 this year and love every minute of the school day! We have a morning routine to get them ready for school and when the bus pulls up in front of the house (curb-side service...I love it!) the kids are all but falling over themselves to get out the door and on the bus.  This program will probably continue on for the kids all the way up to Kindergarten to make the transition smoother and we have every confidence that they will be just fine.  We have been very fortunate to have a caring group of team members on both the pickup and drop off bus routes looking after the kids, as well as a wonderful teacher at Morton Ranch.

 We also got treated to the kids first of many school pictures for Jacob and Jordan, and as seen below they are nothing short of cute (even if some chose not to smile).

For Valentine's Day this year, the kids got to experience some sweet, delicious (and very very messy) chocolate.  The cleanup was a task, but Jacob and Jordan both loved the taste and weren't afraid to show their enthusiasm!

We also were fortunate to stumble onto a miniature ride-able train setup out in Katy that is open to the public once a month on Saturdays and everyone who went had an absolute blast!  Jacob has been in love with trains since he was 2 and even has his sister as an enthusiast,  and as seen in the photos below the kids were nothing short of awe-stricken and could barely contain their excitement!

With the record temperatures of the Texas summer heat quickly approaching as well as July 4, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas we have a lot to be thankful for.  The kids are growing by leaps and bounds and adapting relatively well to their environment although at times it seems like everyone is always on the go.  All in all, we are very happy with their development and are always looking for a new expression or choice word that the kids choose to share to describe the world in which they live.

Jacob & Jordan Update 6-2012 - 12-2012

Wrapping up 2012 with The Cordova's!

The twins wrapped up 2012 with an assortment of various activities throughout the remainder of the year ranging from day care early learning, a beach day at Stewart Beach in Galveston, Halloween trick-o-treating with some of Sheri's classmates and their kids, park days (even in October we had fairly decent weather days) and Christmas.  With Sheri 's Resperatory Therapy program in full force and Andy's fall baseball and football activities in the evenings away from Aker, everyone did their best to make sure they kids got out of the house and exposure to the world around them as often as possible. Halloween was trick-o-treating at Sheri's friends Claudia's secure neighborhood near Simonton. The kids dressed as Dr. Suess's Thing 1 and Thing 2 (complete with blue hair) and got to ride in the back of a trailer with the other kids and adults to loot and plunder.

Christmas was a little different for 2012.  The weather outside was still warm enough to enjoy on most days (a typical Texas Christmas) so we opted to have our yearly photo shoot in Bear Creek Park.

 

All things considered, it was another blessed year for the Cordova family!

Happy Easter from The Cordova's! 4-9-12

Happy Easter from The Cordova's!

The twins got treated to professional shots through JC Penny this year thanks to the aid of a discount program called Groupon. The photo shoot was difficult (they are 2 after all ;) ), but we were able to get some pretty decent shots and they look as precious as ever! See below!































































































Easter was spent this year with an Easter egg hunt at Aunt Mimi's in Brenham. The kids still haven't quite grasped the concept of putting the eggs IN the basket yet, but everyone had a good time regardless and plenty of goodies to munch on! Oh well, maybe next year!

Wow, April is already almost midway through, and we can't believe how fast the year is going by! Soon we will be feeling the pangs of the famous Houston Summer heat wave!

Spring has Sprung! Bluebonnets in Texas from The Cordova's 3-17-12

Spring Greetings from the Cordova's!

Bluebonnet Season in Texas was improved from last year with the better rainy season we had at the beginning of 2012. We took advantage of the sun and cool weather, and although the bluebonnets were still not as plentiful as we would have liked, we made an afternoon of it and between mine, Mom, Dad, and Sheri's cameras, got some pretty good pictures! See below!

So far, the year presents challenges, but also many blessings and good memories as the toddlers continue to thrive!

Jacob & Jordan Update 1-21-12

Friends, Family, Prayer Warriors,

As the new year rolled around, the family took in a fireworks display from the picture window in the living room of our home and observing from our backyard patio before turning in for the evening. After that, it wasn't long (21 days to be exact ;) )before we were celebrating the twins 2nd birthday! This year it was decided to have their birthday party outside at the local pocket park around the corner and down the main stretch into our neighborhood from our house. We saw many of the faces of the regular attendees for the kids' festivities (including some we hadn't seen in a long time and some friends that weren't able to make the kids' celebration last year) and enjoyed every minute! The kids' birthday fell on a weekend this year, so we spent the week prior taking the kids to the park a couple of times to let them learn the layout of the land.

Everyone had a great time; the weather behaved itself for the most part...we had clouds, but no rain, and we really enjoyed seeing everyone and catching up, in addition to the kids enjoying their first themed birthday cake! (the cake was split between Thomas the Tank Engine and Tinkerbell). Afterwards, we had a few attendees come back to the house for refreshments, commoradoraty and cleanup!

The 411 on the babies' individual progress...

The terrible 2's are in full force! The twins push the envelope every chance they get as they explore their ever changing environment and have no compunction to tell you their feelings on the subject if they don't agree (which is pretty often)!

Jordan is fully fluent in her toddlespeak and can have a full blown conversation with you regardless of the subject. You may not understand everything she says to communicate back, but she definitely knows what she is talking about. She also continues to expand her English with words like Susu, Miami (spelled like Miami, Florida but pronounced "Mee-yah-mee", a combination of Rae's name Mia and Mimi), Papa, Shelly, Heather, Jacob, some animal imitations (lion, snake,monkey, etc.), loves to scream, giggle, talk on Sheri's phone with her Susu, and finds it hysterically amusing to pretend hiccup (a trick she learned from The Wiggles, I think). It is never a dull moment interacting with her.

Jacob is our resident acrobat and daredevil. When he is not having Nascar races with his sister on their toy cars throughout the house or around the kitchen island, he is sliding, flipping and rolling down the slide, up and down on the couch and loveseat and running circles around just about anything that he can get around (which would include a person if they stood still long enough! The kitchen island, the living room padded chest being his favorites). And just when you think he has run out of energy and will tire out, he reaches down deep and finds some more and it's off to the races again! We've learned through trial and error and sheer fatigue, that you don't even have to chase him anymore; basically you have to goose him every now and then and he can run laps around you cackling with glee as he runs (run Forrest, run!) As far as speech goes for him, he is still in the gutteral grunting phase, but he has developed in the last year to say a few choice words (bubble, ye e cah [his version of Bob the Builder's Yes We Can!]).

Both kids continue to sell their personalities and it is through these cherished moments that we see the world in an entirely unique and different light as they interact, grown and learn. We continue to give thanks and praise to the Lord above for all of His blessings in our daily and nightly routines and all of our friends and loved ones for all the suppport they provide!

Jacob and Jordan Update 12-13-11

Friends, Family, Prayer Warriors,

My sincerest apologies for the lack of posts since May '11. Sheri and I have had our hands pretty full this fall! With Sheri managing all of the baby activities during the day, and me with juggling my expediting job at Aker, officiating baseball and football this fall in the off hours, our hands have been fit to be tied! All in all, we are settling down this Christmas and New Year season looking forward to 2012 and it's adventures. But enough about Sheri and I, let's get down to what you came to visit the website for...Jacob & Jordan!

July 4th consisted of a local televised fireworks display; the kids were still too young to fully appreciate and tolerate all the fireworks. They were eager enough though to celebrate the holiday festively though, complete with themed outfits!

















For Halloween this year, we really got the kids into the spirit of the holiday, and had a lot of fun dressing them up in themed outfits! Given Jacob's personality, the choice of Peter Pan was a perfect fit for him, complete with a custom designed outfit created by Mom and Grandma Susu!





















And Jordan...with my little princess and Sheri's love of Tinkerbell, well, it just fit, and Jordan did it up well. After all, you can't have Peter Pan without Tinkerbell, right?



















The kids (and us) thoroughly enjoyed the dressing up and going out trick-or-treating. We didn't get to visit any houses for candy this year, due to the babies having a slight nasal issue, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to dress them up and take them around the block in the wagon (which they loved every minute of)! Next year will be even better!












This Christmas we will be spending Christmas Eve with Mia and the Rosenberg bunch, and Christmas Day will be spent with the Brenham bunch. New Years is still up in the air, but if our block is anything like the fourth of July was this year, we may allow the kids to see a fireworks show from the safety of the house (namely watching through the front windows in the study!)

We also had our family Christmas sitting photos for this year (see below) and our annual Christmas card and newsletter. We may miss some of you in the distribution (please know it's not intentional!) so, I have included it below to ensure it reaches everyone.



































































The 411 on the babies' individual progress...

There is no "practically" anymore. Jacob is running everywhere. His smile, which spans from ear to ear, curiosity and zest for life takes him just about anywhere he can get into on his own and places we let him observe. We find ourselves having to reel him back a lot though. You have to love the wonder of a child!

Jordan has made significant progress in walking! She can traverse any room and any floor environment unassisted (although still somewhat awkwardly), and can turn, spin and even run with the rest of them. She doesn't quite have the speed of her brother just yet, but is well on her way! Jordan's curls are also the envy and talk of all of her family, and has mastered the ability of baby talk. A great many words are comprehensible, but get her rolling in her native tongue, and all you can do is nod and say "uh huh! (what did she just say?)

Both kids continue to gain their baby teeth in, which sells their personalities that much more! With grins like that, it's a task to deny them anything (but we do! [with effort]).

As you can see, with the current and future developments, our cups continuously runneth over with good blessings and experiencing the world through their eyes. We continue to give thanks and praise to the Lord above for all He has blessed us with, and look forward to every experience we can share with them and each other as a family!

Jacob & Jordan Update 5-21-11

Friends, Family, Prayer Warriors,

The twins continue to grow and thrive, and each day presents amazing (and sometimes difficult!) developments for us as we watch the world through their eyes.

Bluebonnet season in Texas was pretty dull this year; without a good spring rain season, the crop was pretty non-existent because of the lack of proper precipitation. But through the magic and technology of Photoshop (thanks, Grandma Susu!) we were able to have a good picture of the kids sitting in a plentiful field of Texas Bluebonnets for the first time!
















Hopefully the next few seasons will be better and we can continue this favorite southern tradition!

The kids' first Easter as toddlers and ability to physically interact with their surroundings was also a memorable time; they kids weren't quite old enough yet to go running around Easter egg hunting, but we all went up to Great Aunt Kathy and Great Uncle Corky's house in Brenham to celebrate. It was a good time for all, and the kids did get into the spirit of the holiday:




























We even got a great family photo of all of us upon our return to Katy before the sun went down!
















And now the 411 on the babies' individual progress...

As of the last doctor's checkup on 4/25/11:

Jacob - 18 lbs., 1.6 oz. , 28.58 in. long
Jordan - 17 lbs., 13.4 oz., 27.36 in. long

Jacob has officially mastered walking and is practically running everywhere. His face lights up and he screeches with delight as he turns every corner, looking for a new place to explore and get into.

Jordan is still crawling, but has improved her standing and now is walking along things; she uses objects to move along. Once she figures out how stand unassisted and move those legs, it's off to the races with her brother!

Also, both kids have their top and bottom front teeth in, and to see them smile, grin, laugh and baby jabber, is a wonderful experience!

Another thing to mention, is both kids are now exploring things via climbing onto them. Recently we were able to capture Jordan exploring the small cubby hole in the entertainment center, and then the half-full toy bucket! See below!





















































As you can see, with the current and future developments, we definitely have our hands full! We also have a great deal to be thankful for with them, and we truly love each day we get to experience something new with them!
