Meet the Cordova Twins

The Cordova Twins:

Jordan (pronounced JOR-den, in Biblical & English derived from (yarad) meaning "descend" or "flow down". It is also the name of the river which flows between the countries of Jordan and Israel where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist).

Jacob (pronounced JAY-kep, in English and Biblical means "holder of the heel" or "supplanter", and (Ya'aqov'el) meaning "may God protect". In the Old Testament, Jacob (later called Israel) was the son of Isaac and Rebecca and the father of the twelve founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was born holding his twin brother Esau's heel)

Jacob & Jordan Update 1-9-11

Friends, Family, Prayer Warriors,

2010 presented the Cordova family with a lot of obstacles and numerous blessings, the main two being Jacob and Jordan's development! I am happy to report that even as New Year's has come and gone, the twins continue to flourish and grow; each day they show us something new, and for that we are very thankful.

Christmas 2010 was a special one; we had the twins' First Christmas, which included a lot of toys for the girl and boy, and each was received with screeches of delight and wonder for all who observed. Christmas Eve was spent in Brenham with the Smith bunch and the Sunday after Christmas was with the Mersiovsky bunch at Rae's house in Richmond. Much to be celebrated was received at every location over the holidays; we were all glad to be with all our loved ones and friends.

2011 continues to observe many noticeable changes for the twins. Jacob has grown a small amount of hair on his head and has broken his first two teeth. His babbling vocabulary has increased; his favorite word is "ma-ma", but he can also say ga and goo. Mainly, he entertains himself by screeching. He has also mastered his crawling; there is no where he cannot get to relatively quickly. Jacob is now working on walking, and his main practice arena is the couch. He will start at one end and using his hands, guide himself the length of the couch. It won't be long now.

Jordan's babbilings are still mostly of the ga ga goo goo", "ba ma" and "ma ma" phrases, but she has added "da da" to her vocabulary. I love that. I don't even have to be looking her way for her to start saying that. She also has made considerable progress with her crawling; on her own she still rocks back and forth on her hands and knees and will make a few steps, but if you hold something in front of her at a distance she really likes or wants, she's making a bee-line for it. Go baby! Jordan also had to have another procedure done the Monday after Christmas; it was deemed by her doctors after Thanksgiving that her feeding tube incision wasn't closing like it should have, and she would have to undergo surgery to scrape away the scar tissue and sew up the incision from the inside out. I am pleased to report the surgery went very well, Jordan's scar looks better each day and the feeding tube complication is pretty much a distant memory (to be reminded of only as we count our blessings).

We were not able to send everyone a newsletter and Christmas card for 2010 (unfortunately). I have therefore, placed both the newsletter and Christmas Card here on the blog for everyone to see.

This month Jacob and Jordan will also be turning 1! We will be having a small celebration at the house January 22, 2011. We are very much looking forward to another great milestone and celebration for the twins!

We hope everyone has a great year in 2011! Please pray for continued success for all!

Thank you for all of your love, prayers and thoughts! More progress reports as soon as I can spare another minute! May the good Lord bless and protect us all.

Kind regards,

The Cordova Family (Andy, Sheri, Jacob & Jordan)
