Jordan (pronounced JOR-den, in Biblical & English derived from (yarad) meaning "descend" or "flow down". It is also the name of the river which flows between the countries of Jordan and Israel where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist).
Jacob (pronounced JAY-kep, in English and Biblical means "holder of the heel" or "supplanter", and (Ya'aqov'el) meaning "may God protect". In the Old Testament, Jacob (later called Israel) was the son of Isaac and Rebecca and the father of the twelve founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was born holding his twin brother Esau's heel)

Jan. 26, 2010 -
Jordan back on billiruben light (jaundice levels were elevated) Both skipped the 3 PM feeding that day. Jordan had her first experience of hiccups.
Sheri and I would like to take a few moments to pray, give thanks, and praise God for all the wonderful strides that Jacob and Jordan have made since their arrival into this world on January 21, 2010. I offer this prayer, and as you read, if you would pray with me...
"Heavenly Father, we give humble thanks to all the blessings you have bestowed upon Jacob and Jordan and our family, and ask that you be a continued presence in all of our lives; from the twins' transition through prematurity, full term, and beyond, and that we continue to grow as a loving and supportive family, Lord. We give thanks for everyone that has stepped in and have offered their time, supplies, an ear, whatever our needs are, Lord, and we ask that through your divine intervention, each of us grows in faith to be a servant and messenger for you and a strong presence that the babies will rely on and look up to their entire lives.
We pray that through the trials and tribulations that life has to offer, that they meet each hurdle with determination, a sense of purpose, and most importantly, humility, to care for themselves and others, to be able to see all sides of the situation and make good and just decisions, Father, and they accomplish all of these things in your precious name, Lord.
We thank you Lord, for these precious miracles, and are truly blessed to have them and be a part of their lives. It is in your holy name that we pray, Amen."
And to our friends, family, and the many wonderful people we have received prayer notifications and kind words from, we offer to each of you, our sincere thanks. It is because of you, your faith, and God's hand that Jacob and Jordan have come so far. His presence is truly seen in all of the progress the twins make each day, and we can't wait to see the people they will one day become.
May the Lord watch over you, and keep you safe from harm.
Sheri and I married on August 8, 2008. After a year, we decided to expand our family by getting pregnant via in-vitro. Our twins were expected to be delivered on April 8, 2010, but due to blood flow difficulties, they had to be taken by emergency C-section on January 21, 2010. Since that time, our lives have been Sheri spending most of her time at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital in the medical center, while I continue to work and stay with Sheri and the kids at the hospital when I can. This blog is to catalog our journey from the twins birth, home, and beyond.
