Meet the Cordova Twins

The Cordova Twins:

Jordan (pronounced JOR-den, in Biblical & English derived from (yarad) meaning "descend" or "flow down". It is also the name of the river which flows between the countries of Jordan and Israel where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist).

Jacob (pronounced JAY-kep, in English and Biblical means "holder of the heel" or "supplanter", and (Ya'aqov'el) meaning "may God protect". In the Old Testament, Jacob (later called Israel) was the son of Isaac and Rebecca and the father of the twelve founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was born holding his twin brother Esau's heel)

Jacob & Jordan Update 3-16-10

Family, Friends, Prayer Warriors,

Jordan's official report for today is:
3 lbs. 15 oz
21% Room Air, with 2 Liter flow nasal cannula
36 CC's fortified milk
1 dirty diaper
8 wet diapers
3 brady episode
3 desat
0 residuals

Jacob's official report for the day is:
3 lbs. 1 oz.
6 brady episodes
0 desats
21% Room Air on the nasal cannula, with 1 liter flow
27 CC's of fortified milk
3 dirty diapers
9 wet diapers
0 residuals

You may have noticed an increase in Jacob's brady cardia episodes today. This was on my mind as well, and when I asked the nurse about it, I was told this is more common with Jacob's activity (increased feeds, bottle and natural feed practice). His levels are still good, so no plans to move him back to the CPAP just now.

Sheri also told me about a mother in the NICU whose baby was born with a detached brain stem and is very small. For the last few weeks, the baby has been on a respirator, but shows no signs of brain activity. The doctors have been trying to get the mother to agree to take the baby off of the ventilator and let nature take its course, but the mother was able to get them to agree to leaving the baby on the ventilator for two more weeks, as she was sure she saw her baby's eyes open the other day.

We only know the mother in passing, and have not been fortunate enough to meet the baby yet. God's presence and miraculous works have been shown time and time again throughout the course of Jacob and Jordan's life thus far, and we ask that you pray for His divine will to take care of this other little baby and the family as well in whatever manner He deems appropiate.

Thank you for all of your love, prayers and thoughts! More progress reports soon!

Kind regards,

The Cordova Family (Andy, Sheri, Jacob & Jordan)
