Meet the Cordova Twins

The Cordova Twins:

Jordan (pronounced JOR-den, in Biblical & English derived from (yarad) meaning "descend" or "flow down". It is also the name of the river which flows between the countries of Jordan and Israel where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist).

Jacob (pronounced JAY-kep, in English and Biblical means "holder of the heel" or "supplanter", and (Ya'aqov'el) meaning "may God protect". In the Old Testament, Jacob (later called Israel) was the son of Isaac and Rebecca and the father of the twelve founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was born holding his twin brother Esau's heel)

Jacob & Jordan Update 3-4-10

Friends, Family, Prayer Warriors,

I would like to introduce you to the latest addition in our primary care miracle workers for Jacob and Jordan...Virginia! Virginia has graciously agreed to be a daily care primary for two days out of each week and work with Jacob and Jordan, and we got the distinct pleasure of getting to know her tonight. She is very nice, very knowledgeable and Sheri and I are so thankful that we are so very blessed with having wonderful people like these three ladies taking care of our little ones! Check out the aptly named...Dream Team for the Cordovas! (from left to right, Virginia, our two day primary, Melinda, our 5 night primary, and last, but certainly not least, Jennifer, our weekend day primary!

Well, another good day for both of the babies. Jordan is handling wearing clothes comfortably; I got to hold her for a little bit before shift change tonight (between 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.), I haven't got pictures yet from mom, but once I can tie her down to loan me her flash card from her camera, I'll upload them to the website and you will be able to see them. Sheri held Jacob for a while tonight; it was a very enjoyable evening for both of us, as both kids were switched off of the CPAP today and put back on nasal cannula again! As I said before, lets pray third time is a charm for them to succeed and stay off the CPAP permanently this time, hmmmm?

And now the news...

Jacob's weight is maintaining at 2 lbs. 12 oz. tonight. His feeds were increased today to 6 CC's of non-fortified milk and he is taking 21% Room Air on Nasal cannula. His TPN levels were again reduced to 4.9 and his lipids to .8. In addition to all of that, he continues to have 6 mg. of daily caffeine, 0 residuals, 0 brady episodes, 6 wet diapers, and 1 big dirty diaper for tonight. Way to Go Baby Boy!

Jordan's weight has increased as well; she really is truckin' along by leaps and bounds! Her official weight is 3 lbs. 5 oz., with 5 wet diapers, 1 dirty diaper, 0 desats and 0 brady episodes. That's awesome! It is also suspected that if Jordan puts on a little more ounces this weekend, she could go to an open crib next week! Oooh, lets pray for that! Jordan is also getting 28 CC's of fortified milk, 0 residuals, and her daily caffeine regiment is holding steady at 6.8 mg. caffeine, while her nasal cannula percentages slightly fluctuate between 21% Room Air and 23% FIO2.

Awesome job kiddos!

Check back for more updates soon!

Kind regards,
