Meet the Cordova Twins

The Cordova Twins:

Jordan (pronounced JOR-den, in Biblical & English derived from (yarad) meaning "descend" or "flow down". It is also the name of the river which flows between the countries of Jordan and Israel where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist).

Jacob (pronounced JAY-kep, in English and Biblical means "holder of the heel" or "supplanter", and (Ya'aqov'el) meaning "may God protect". In the Old Testament, Jacob (later called Israel) was the son of Isaac and Rebecca and the father of the twelve founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was born holding his twin brother Esau's heel)

Jacob & Jordan Update 3-18-10

Family, Friends, Prayer Warriors,

New development for this evening...Jordan had a Echo Cardiogram today to assess her heart murmur she has had for some time now. Prior, the doctors and nurses had been monitoring it and were chalking it up to a normalcy with prematurity (since both twins had it), however with Jordan switching back and forth from CPAP to Nasal Cannula and her 'bouts with Acid Reflux, more scrutiny and assessment was recently performed. Presently, she is not asymptomatic that would lead us to be alarmed about anything out of the ordinary, and her preliminary results given to us by the nurse and nurse practitioner tonight has us in high hopes that this will turn into just another growing hurdle she has to overcome. Once we get the final prognosis, we will collectively determine with the doctors if further steps need to be taken to correct the issue. To repeat, Jordan is not showing any signs of distress other than taking slightly deeper breaths than her brother, so unless she begins to show something else, the direction will be to let her outgrow it. The other options we have available to us is medication to fix the issue, or surgery.

Please pray that it is nothing more than another growing hurdle for baby Jordan.

Jordan's official report for today is:
4 lbs. 2.7 oz
21% Room Air, with 2 Liter flow nasal cannula
36 CC's fortified milk
0 dirty diaper
5 wet diapers
3 brady episodes
0 desat
3 CC residuals

Jacob continues to impress us each day with his bottle feedings. Although he is still only once a day with the bottle for now, each time he has a feeding with it, he performs beautifully. He is doing so well with it, and each feeding he gets more ad more and still has little to no difficulty drinking it all down!

Jacob's official report for the day is:
3 lbs. 3 oz.
4 brady episodes
0 desats
21% Room Air on the nasal cannula, with 1 liter flow
27 CC's of fortified milk
1 dirty diaper
6 wet diapers
1.5 CC's residuals
